Herbert ‘Clifford’ Fielding (1932-2024) – With deep sadness we wish to announce that Cliff passed away at Trenton Memorial Hospital. He was a loving husband of 70 years to Pauline Fielding, mother to Michael (Brenda) and Cathy Ketcheson. Loving grandfather to Jason, Ryan, Shannon and Kristen. Devoted great grandfather to Ainsley, Ewan, Alice Jane, Anna Pauline and Cole. Pre-deceased by his wife Pauline, his parents Herbert Clifford Fielding Sr and Jessie Massing, his daughter Cathy and brother David. Born in Niagara Falls Ontario but raised in Niagara Falls NY, Cliff walked across the border at 18 and joined the RCAF. After receiving his pilot wings he pursued a long and varied flying career. In the Air Force this included Search and Rescue operations on Lancaster, Canso, Dakota and Norseman aircraft and instructional tours on the Harvard before leaving the military for Spartan Air Services where he flew aerial survey operations across Canada. He then spent several years in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam where he surveyed the Mekong Delta. After returning to Canada in 1960 he flew Cansos with Eastern Provincial Airways (EPA) for the Danish government servicing remote communities by water in Greenland. He rejoined the RCAF in 1962 as an Air Traffic Controller at Trenton and Goose Bay before returning to flying duties on the Buffalo and Hercules in St Hubert and Trenton. Cliff was a member of numerous military and aviation organizations and a voracious reader. In addition, he closely followed politics and enjoyed a lively discussion on the issues of the day. He and Pauline were active in the community, in particular with the Rednersville-Albury Community Church. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Albury Church, Ameliasburgh for a service at 1:00 pm, Friday May 17, Reverend Brad Ford officiating. Cremation and burial at a later date. Cliff’s family wish to thank the staff at Crown Ridge Retirement Residence, Trenton Memorial Hospital and Seasons Dufferin Centre.
