It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Luitgard Mayer on September 3, 2024. Luitgard grew up in Bavaria, Germany during the war and immigrated to Canada in 1956, settling in the Hockley Valley in 1961. She is predeceased by her husband Martin and her first daughter Irene, and is survived by her other five children Joe, Mike, Helene, Martin (Louise) and Irm (Sal). She leaves behind nine grandchildren Joseph (Jessica), David, Emily, Amy (Nick), Viki (Jon), Steven, Christina, Andreas and Marcus. As well as her great grandchildren Jackson and baby Ogrodnik.
Luitgard was an integral part of Mayer Tooling, the family business, where she worked hard over the decades both in the office and running production on the shop floor, stubbornly working even into her 94th year! She was very proud of her children, and her grandchildren. She possessed a friendly power with her accepting nature and her welcoming smile. She was an inspiration with her positive outlook on life, unbelievable energy and endless warmth.
The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham 905-936-3477 on Monday September 9, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Catholic Faith will be held at St. James Church Colgan, 2118 Adjala Tecumseth Townline, Colgan at 10:30am, with interment in St. James Cemetery, Colgan. Reception to follow at the St. James Colgan Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Covenant House, a youth support charity close to her heart. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.
