Virginia “Ginny” McDonnell passed away on July 18, 2024, at her home in Toronto, at the age of 72. Born on August 3, 1951, in Chatham, Ontario, Ginny dedicated much of her life to caring for others in her long-standing career as a nurse.
She is survived by her loving children, Erin (Simon) and Grant; grandchildren, Isabelle and Jacob; and sister, Margaret. She was a loving Aunt to Neil, Carlee, Ally, and Laura; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Ferdinand) and Sara. Ginny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alan, and her parents, Jim and Mary Fisher.
Ginny was a proud alumna of the University of Toronto, where she honed her skills that would lead to a compassionate career in nursing. Beyond her professional life, she had a rich personal life filled with joy from gardening, traveling, reading, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with her friends, family and as a grandma.
Ginny’s warmth, kindness, and enduring compassion profoundly impacted all who knew her, leaving a lasting legacy of love and care. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of her family and friends.
A private family memorial service will be held at Morley Bedford Funeral Home on Saturday July 27 followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
