Born on July 31, 1953, in Paragould, Arkansas, passed away in the presence of family on June 20th , 2024 at Sunnybrook Hospital under the compassionate care of the palliative team. For three and a half years she fought pancreatic cancer with no hint of quit or complaint.
Regena was predeceased by her parents, Johnie and Mary Mangrum, and her siblings, JoAnn and Nippy.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Taylor, her daughters Paige (Sandy) Freeman and Mollie (Ben) Blanche, her brother Tim (Lanie) Mangrum and sister-in law Nancy Mangrum. She will be missed in particular by her four beloved grandchildren: Lily, Jack, Olivia, and Eleanor. They were the light of her life.
In 1986, Regena married Jim Taylor, and they moved to Toronto which differed from Arkansas in a few slight respects. She quickly became a passionate fan of the Blue Jays, cheering them on with great enthusiasm and often following the team to Florida for spring training. For years she was a trusted employee of Westbury National, attracting the admiration of co-workers for her commitment and caring ways.
Regena was a special person who made a lasting impression upon everyone she knew with her kindness, her humour and her strength. Her dedication to family – especially her grandchildren, to work, to friends and to her favourite baseball team was unlimited. She will be missed so deeply by so many.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Perera of the Odette Cancer Centre and Dr. Walji of the Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre.
Service to be held at Morley Bedford (159 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto) on Monday, June 24 @ 11am.
