EASSON, Irene Beatrice (nee Cooper) –
With the love of her family surrounding her, Irene passed away peacefully in Barrie on Saturday December 2, 2023. While we grieve her absence and our loss, we are confident that those that predeceased her are celebrating her arrival!
Mom was born in England and travelled to Canada with her mother and siblings as a young child. Growing up in Verdun, Quebec she played on the stairwells and in the back lanes with her family and friends. Life was not always easy but she made the most of what she had and relied on her faith to guide her. That faith guided her throughout her life. One day at work she met our dad, Douglas. They married, had three children and relocated to Toronto. She raised us with gentle patience, sensible guidance and a massive amount of love. Her big heart grew even bigger with the arrival of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If there was a baby somewhere in the room, she would be holding it! Her world revolved around her family and she always found time to support causes close to her heart – our school PTAs, our figure skating club, the Catholic Children’s Aid Society and the Heart & Stroke Foundation. She was a long time dedicated parishoner of Transfiguration of Our Lord Church and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for close to 50 years. She was selfless, generous and always put the needs of others first.
Continuing her legacy of kindness and love are her daughter Colleen (Gerry) Pollock, son Ron (Patti), daughter Sandra (Frank) Bruno, and cherished nephews Bruce (Wendy) Ball and Jamie (Jodie) Easson. Her grandchildren Lauren (Greg), Kevin (Mica), Erin (Niall), Jenna (Brodie), Nicolas, Lucas as well as Jessica (Lucas) and Jackie were her pride and joy. Her young great granddaughters Penelope, Brooke and Brianna brought such a beautiful smile to her face. She loved, and was loved by, many other important family and friends.
We would like to thank the wonderful team at Amica Little Lake and Dr Boushy for all the kindness and care they provided, especially over the past two years. Fly with the other angels now Mom. We will miss you beyond words and look forwarding to seeing you again one day.
Visitation will be held at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Toronto (north of Rexdale Blvd), on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 6 p.m – 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, 45 Ludstone Drive, Toronto at 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Online condolences can be made at newediukfuneralhome.com
