July 4th, 1936 – December 31st, 2023
Diane passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her father Reg, mother Helen, and dear brother Robert Steen (Charlotte). She is survived by her sister Enid Helen (Steen) Richardson and sister-in-law Sandra (Gordon) Steen.
Diane was the consummate loving, thoughtful and generous Aunt and Great Aunt. Her memory will be cherished by her niece Elizabeth Richardson Burn (Peter); nephews Scott Richardson (Libby McMinn), Rob Steen (Jen Hunter), Andrew Steen (Janet Bos) and Sandy Steen (Jenn Shin). Diane was also loved by her Great nieces and nephews, including Hilary Burn Dudley; Colin Burn; Morgan Burn; Rachel and Erich Richardson; Spencer, Camryn, River, Hunter and Olivia Steen.
Over the course of many years, Diane enjoyed the weekly visits of Colin and Courtney Burn who took care of her basic needs, wishes and entertainment. Daughters Caroline, Charlotte Diane, and Cate Burn, along with dog Joey brought joy and chaos into her life.
Diane’s unwavering desire to remain in her home with her cats until the end of her life was facilitated by the excellent care provided over the course of many years by Vibrant Health Care (Marilyn Brownlee), the LIHN (Marcia Donalds) and nurses Rebecca & Emily of the St Elizabeth’s Palliative Care team. The care and compassion shown by Tiffanie Wolfe and her team of caregivers (Shanna, Kerisha, and Neisha) made her final days as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
A lifelong animal lover, Diane was a board member and a long-term volunteer adoption counsellor at the Toronto Humane Society. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Toronto Humane Society in her memory.
Diane will be laid to rest in a private family service at Park Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Morley Bedford.
