Devora Resnick (nee Cherry) – A Life Well Lived
Devora Resnick, born on October 6, 1934, in Quebec City, Quebec, passed away in Paris, France, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of strength and resilience. Devora was the daughter of Sylvia Schiller and Bob Isadore Cherry, a devoted partner to Jean Lepage, sister to the late Robert Cherry (Lee Rosas Shapiro), a loving mother to Karen and Allen Kaeja, and Lyle Resnick, and caring grandmother of four.
A woman of many talents and passions, Devora was a graduate of the Jewish General Hospital nursing program. Her career spanned several professions, as an Air Canada flight attendant, a registered nurse, a real estate agent, a yoga instructor, and a potter. She embraced life fully with a vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion to those around her. An absolute love for France, where she and Jean spent two to three months annually for over 40 years, she immersed herself in the glamour, culture, and charm of Paris. Devora’s lifestyle was markedkHy a love for travel and culture, fine art, dance, theatre, cinema, reading, cuisine, and fashion. Her home adorned with ornate objects, paintings, and rare treasures, spoke to her appreciation for beauty. Devora’s enthusiasm for life also graced simple pleasures like indulgences of chocolate and ice cream and a deep love for animals and the people she held dear.
Known for her spirited personality, Devora was fiercely independent. Her loyalty to family and friends, crossed global waters. She was a constant source of inspiration, exemplifying through her actions the value of living passionately, authentically, fashionably, and unapologetically.
Devora will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory lives on in the richness of her life, the strength of her character, and the love she shared with those around her.
