It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marc Hector Richard, a beloved husband, father, papie, and friend. Marc passed away suddenly on August 31, 2024, at the age of 69. He was born on November 3, 1954, in Timmins, Ontario, and spent his early years growing up in Val Gagne before returning to Timmins to raise his family.
Marc is survived by his loving wife, Diane Richard; his daughter Stephanie and her husband Kevin; his son Marcus and his wife Shannon; and his cherished grandchildren, Cooper, Abby, Bromley, and Jack. He also leaves behind his brothers, Roger (Anne-Louise) and Miles Richard (Leona), sister and brothers-in-law Gaetan (Jinette), Laurette (Gilles), and Ben (Michelle), his many nieces and nephews, and his mother-in-law, Rejeanne Levesque. Marc was predeceased by his parents, Dolores (née Laflamme) and Roger Richard, his brother Kim Richard, and his father-in-law Marc Levesque.
Marc was a dedicated Real Estate Agent and proud business partner with his son Marcus. He was well-known in the community for his passion for helping others find their perfect home. Beyond his professional life, Marc had a deep love for family and connection. He cherished long conversations over a good meal, where he could share his wisdom on life, politics, and everything in between. His favorite pastime was playing games with his grandchildren, engaging in friendly competitions that brought joy to all.
An avid golfer, Marc was a past president and long-time board member of the Spruce Needles Golf Course. His passion for the game and his commitment to the golf community were evident in everything he did. His legacy will live on not only through his contributions to the Spruce Needles Golf Course but also through the love and guidance he provided to his family. Marc will be remembered as a wise and caring man who always offered his family advice and support.
At this time, no funeral or memorial service will be held, as the family wishes to grieve privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Marc’s memory.
Marc’s life was a testament to the importance of family, community, and the simple pleasures of good conversation and shared moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
