It is with profound sadness that the family announces that John’s earthly journey came to an end July 14th, 2024, in Borbon, Philippines. John is the cherished father of Shalon Bell (Scott) and John Bell Jr., whom he adored. Papa to Payton Bell (Felix) and John Patrick Bell, all of Timmins.
Loving brother and protector to his younger siblings Janice Bell Hansuld (Dale) and James Bell (Margaret) of Timmins. Also survived by his companion Dinah and her family in the Philippines, as well as by his former spouse Anna and his stepson Aaron Woodrow. Left to mourn are his Aunt Doreen Graham of Timmins and his Auntie Pam Bell of Scotland. Also survived by nephews, nieces and many cousins in Canada and Scotland.
John was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Bell (nee Robertson)
John loved life and enjoyed having a good ole time! He loved family get togethers and sharing holidays with everyone when he lived in Canada. Rides down the Mattagami River on the pontoon boat or cold nights in the hot tub was always better shared with family and friends.
John was an avid baseball player as a young adult and loved the sport. He loved a game of darts with his dad on a Friday night or playing with his friends in the dart league at the Dante Club. He loved riding his Harley Davidson with the Timmins Hoggs. John dedicated many years coaching the Timmins Special Olympics floor hockey team “The Diggers” and brought many wins home with them.
He spent many years in Mexico after his early retirement where he shared many great times with his former spouse and family and friends who lived or visited him there.
We will miss your loud voice and boisterous laugh but most of all, your kindness and love for us all. Although you were called home far too young your legacy and wonderful memories will be with us all forever! We will find comfort in knowing you will remain at our sides.
Another link in our family chain has been broken but, those links will join again when we meet at Heaven’s gate.
Jesus answered him “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
Cremation has taken place in the Philippines and a celebration of John’s life will take place once his ashes return home. For those wishing to make a donation in John’s memory, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
