It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Joel Antoine Gauvin surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Timmins and District Hospital.
Beloved husband of Louise. Loving father to Jennifer Henderson and Matthew (Heather) Henderson.
Cherished grandfather, best friend, and #1 role model to his grandson, Noah Henderson. Devoted grandfather to Patrice and Melanie Henderson, great-grandpa to Cayden, and adoring grampa to his faithful grand dog, Aurora.
Loving son of Rejeanne Gauvin and late Jean-Guy Gauvin. Dear brother to Guylaine (Frederic) Vetter. Proud godfather to Dr. Pascale Vetter. Joel will be greatly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Joel worked at Tim Horton’s for 35 years. He began there as a baker and through much hard work, determination, and dedication, he worked his way up to being the manager of 3 stores in Timmins. He even worked for the corporate head office where he oversaw the opening and setting up of a new Tim’s store in the Barrie area. Joel taught himself how to fix and maintain a variety of types of equipment in each Tim’s store he worked at. He had a wealth of knowledge, plenty of patience, and much wisdom and could fix anything that was placed in front of him. Joel always loved a good challenge! He was also a wonderful family man, loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandson Noah will always treasure the unbreakable bond that was shared between them.
The family would like to thank the Timmins and District Hospital doctors and nursing staff on medical floors B, C, and ICU as well as the medical staff of Health Sciences North on the 5th floor and ICU departments for their compassion and outstanding care over the last few months.
The family would also like to acknowledge the Earth Angels who helped them, in their time of need on December 16, 2023 in Sudbury. Thank you.
Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. A public visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm at LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre. A private family service will take place.
Remembrance donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy Canada, or the Canadian Lung Association would be most appreciated.
