The family announces with sorrow his passing on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 87.
Beloved husband of the late Penny Durocher. Loving father of Lisa (Dwayne) Sutherland. Cherished grandfather of Briana and Brandy Sutherland. He is survived by his brothers Marcel (Fleurette) and Denis Durocher, as well as by his sister-in-law Caroline Grey and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Elias and Simone Durocher (nee Frappier). He is also predeceased by his siblings Georgette Durocher, Marguerite Villeneuve (Roger), Jacqueline Fortier (Gerard), Gerard Durocher, Maurice Durocher, Sylvio Durocher and Gaetan Durocher, as well as by his brother and sisters-in-law Ron Lepage, Nancy Durocher, Susan Durocher, and Laurette Durocher.
Jean-Paul worked at the Timmins Transit for 20 years. He was always willing to help anyone out and he always had a smile or a joke. Upon retirement, he had a hobby of repairing snowblowers in his back shed, as well as doing the neighbourhoods driveways or being the neighbourhood mechanic fixing their lawn mowers.
The family would like to say a sincere thank you to Dr. Judy Gillies for all her care over the years. They would also like to thank the EMS, doctors, nurses and all the staff at the Timmins and District Hospital Med B, Med C and Hospice, as well as the staff at Extendicare Timmins for all their compassion and care.
Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral and no visitation. A private interment will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
