With a good friend by his side, Gregory passed away peacefully on Christmas Day 2023 at Extendicare in Timmins Ontario.
Gregory was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Timmins on December 22nd,1936.
He was the middle child of three.
Predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Barbara Jelbert, sister-in-law Norah Jelbert and older brother Francis plus many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He began as a cub reporter at the Timmins Daily Press and went on to become its managing editor. He wrote many stories for several mining publications over the years and was well known throughout the Porcupine. After he retired from the press, he became a realtor for the Claim Post Realty Ltd. Anyone who knew Gregory could attest to his love of the gift of gab, and in his younger years, pool and poker. He excelled at all three.
He is survived by his sister Mary Patricia Duval, his nephews Gregory Reynolds, David Duval and Robert Duval and his nieces Theresa LeBarge and Leslie Raffin. Also survived by his great-nephews Ryan Trainor, John Raffin and Justin Duval and by his great-nieces Rosemary March, Rita LeBarge, Kristina Duval and Briley Duval.
Inurnment to be held at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery on Monday January 8th, 2024 at 1 pm.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre. Remembrance donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
