Obituary for
Gloria Kilby (Smith)
It is with great sadness that the family announces her sudden passing on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the age of 68 years. Gloria lived a full life. Born abroad, she spent her childhood in Chicago before (little more than a child herself) coming to Canada and starting a family of her own. She lived in many places, west to east, and made every place a home for her kids. Eventually raising her boys on her own, she put herself through college, took a job with Ontario Hydro and started the next adventures of her life. A few more moves and 2 more wonderful kids later, the family finally settled in Timmins. Leaving behind a family of 5 children, 10 beloved grandchildren, and countless lives she touched along the way. Gloria will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Beloved wife of the late Jack Kilby. Cherished mother of Dax Curnew, Che Curnew (Jennifer Adams), Michelle Oulton, Caitlin Oulton (Allan Van Alstine) and West Kilby (Sarah). Proud grandmother of Kalvin, Tetsu, Kayla, Brayden, Anna, Cree, Caia, Amelia, Elizabeth and Casey. Dear sister of Roger Smith (Annie), Robert Smith (Dee) and Richard Smith (Maria). Sylvia Sanders-Ottoson (Michael Ottoson). Gloria is predeceased by her parents Ralph and Sueko Smith.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane – Timiskaming branch would be greatly appreciated. Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 1pm to 3pm at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins, Ontario.
