Obituary for
Frances Ball (Maley)
Ball, Frances (nee Maley)
Born December 3, 1938 and died October 8, 2023.
The family announces with great sorrow her sudden passing on October 8, 2023 at the age of 84 years. She was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, the daughter of Mary and Fred Maley who have pre-deceased her. She met the love of her life, Donald Ball (“Don”) here in Timmins where they were married on October 4, 1958. She worked locally at Timmins Packers and when her husband Don started working for Trans Canada airlines, she made Brampton her home and worked there at the local unemployment insurance office. When Don was transferred to Timmins to work for Air Canada, she then made Timmins her forever home. Here she raised their two daughters, Lisa and Lori Ann. She was fiercely proud of her Ukrainian heritage and culture. She was one of the original members of the Ukrainian Cultural Group of Timmins and proudly participated annually in the local Multicultural Festival. Her cabbage rolls and pyrohy were phenomenal. She had an infectious laugh that was contagious and brought many of us to tears with her laughter. Later, when her grandson Luca was born, she devoted her time and energy to him. He was the apple of her eye and certainly gave her a new mission. She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Barazzutti (husband Joseph) and Lori Ann and of course her beloved grandson Luca. She will also be missed by Luca’s dog, Maddy who always made mom smile and provided her with hours of entertainment. We are comforted by the fact that she is now reunited with her husband Don, whom she missed tremendously. She also leaves behind her sister Mary Knezic (husband John) and many special nieces, grand-nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, cousins and special sister-in-laws and close friends and the many neighbours on Cherry Street. The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Malo who took care of Frances up until his retirement and then later by Dr. Boulay. Special thanks to the EMS workers who attended to Frances and to the staff at the Timmins and District Hospital who looked after her and treated her with dignity. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday October 14, 2023 at the St. Anthony’s Cathedral and a reception will follow in the reception lounge of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home. Donations to the Timmins and District Humane Society would be appreciated as she was so fond of animals. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday October 14, 2023, at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
