It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Emelda DeLaplante (nee St. Jean) on Monday October 21 at the age of 96. She was born in Ansonville (Iroquois Falls).
A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Emelda endeared herself to all who knew her. Her positive outlook, deep faith, and joie de vivre led her to enjoy many life experiences. She was a fine art painter with an eye for beauty, a gardener, a chef, a nature lover, and a life-long learner. She volunteered in numerous capacities throughout her life, and always made time for others.
Family meant everything to Emelda, and she cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Camille; her mother, Isidoria Leroux; her father, Emile St. Jean; and her stepfather, Arsene Fournier. She is survived by her children Denis (Velma), Lise Rowlandson (Phil), Leo (Cathy) and Rene (Amy); her grandchildren Nathan Rowlandson, Ryan DeLaplante (Carlos), Jackie DeLaplante, Victoria Downey, Nicole Ninni (Chris), Luc DeLaplante (Samantha), Andre DeLaplante; her great grandchildren Maisie Downey, Sophia Ninni, Simon Ninni, Stacey Ninni, and Sadie DeLaplante. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Respecting her wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre Chapel. The celebration will be live streamed on the Lessard Facebook Page. Remembrance donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Timmins would be greatly appreciated.
