Passed away peacefully at the Timmins and District Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday November 10, 2023 in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife Jane Verbeek. Survived by his children Gerrit Verbeek (Lynn), Tom Verbeek (Josee), Willem Verbeek (Shelley), Ivo Verbeek (Curliss), Hilda Verbeek (John), Berta Litt (Jason) and Janey Parnell (Jeff); his grandchildren Vanessa, Johnathan, Willem, Joey, Sarah, Emily, Janey, Aaron, Laura, Thomas, Kennedy, Griffin, Allan, Ivo, Senni, David, Sam, Eva, Jesse, Cassie, Stewart, Hans, Jamie and Gerrit; his great-grandchildren Bentley and Brycen. He is also survived by his brother Willem Verbeek, his sister Yvonne Van der Meer, and his sister-in-law Nan Vanderveen (Karl).
Predeceased by his parents Teunis and Cornelia Verbeek, his brother Tom Verbeek and by his sisters Martha Perron, Betty Andersen and Sonja Mainville.
Dad was defined by his love for God, his family and his work. He was a tireless, meticulous, tenacious doctor with a rough exterior but a kind heart.
A very special thank you to Dr. Kvas, and all the other doctors and nurses that attended to him.
Funeral service will be held on Friday November 17, 2023, at 11am at the Grace Bible Chapel. Interment will follow at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday November 16, 2023 from 2pm to 4 pm and 7pm to 9pm at LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre. Remembrance donations to the Far East Broadcasting Company, 3200 – 8888 Odlin Crescent, Richmond, B.C. V6X 3Z8 would be greatly appreciated.
