Obituary for
Diane Patricia Godin (Godin)
Diane Patricia Godin was born in Timmins on April 11, 1941, the eldest child of 5 to Roland (1917-2006) and Azeline née Boissonneault (1918-1999). At 18, she ventured to Ottawa to pursue her career, holding various positions in banks, the Bay cash office, and eventually in Security management at National Museums. In 1999, she returned to Timmins, where she resided until her peaceful passing at Timmins District Hospital Hospice Unit on April 30 after a prolonged illness. Diane was preceded in death by her beloved brother Ron (1947-2004, husband of Michelle, née Lavigne) and is survived by her sisters Margaret Pizzale (wife of Remo, 1939-2019) and Sue Viirre (wife of Ron, 1945-2010, now with Bob Bielek) as well as her brother Roger of Dartmouth, NS. Known for her loving, encouraging, and compassionate nature, Diane had no children of her own but cherished her numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews, never failing to acknowledge birthdays, holidays, or special events with cards or thoughtful messages. She will be deeply missed by her family members, including niblings Christina Bottigoni (née Pizzale), Mike Pizzale, Marc Pizzale, Lisa Ciotti (née Pizzale), Russ Viirre, Sonja Viirre Taylor, Trevor Viirre, Jon-Tomas Godin, Julie Godin, Dominique Godin, Céleste Godin, and Nel Godin-Keating, as well as her grandniblings Samantha Bottigoni, Alexander Bottigoni, Yanick Comtois, Joey Comtois, Hailey Pizzale, Tessa Pizzale, Kaelyn Pizzale, Hunter Pizzale, Chiara Pizzale, Kaija Taylor, Wynn Taylor, Azeline Viirre, and Henrietta Viirre, and her great-grandniblings Laurel, Leonardo, and Arlo Bottigoni, Amara Kelso, and Sikwan Owl. Additionally, Diane will be fondly remembered by her longtime friend and confidant Colleen Christensen and her neighbor Lorraine Gauthier, who provided care and comfort until the end, and many other friends she made throughout her life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff, doctors, nurses, and lab technicians whose dedication ensured Diane’s comfort at home for the past several years.
A Requiem mass will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11:30 am from the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. (Fr. Emanuel Herkel officiating). Interment at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home Reception lounge. In lieu of flowers, in Diane’s memory, donations to a charity of your choice or to the St. Pius the X Church where a mass in her honour will be said would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S, Timmins, Ontario.
