The family announces with great sorrow his passing on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Huguette (nee Lacroix). Dear father of Martin (Laurie), Cathy (Ken) and Jody. Cherished grandfather of Carrie, Jason (Ashley), Gina (Frank), Sarah, Olivia and Avery and great-grandfather of Cole, Blake and Anna. He is also survived by his siblings Archie (late Ruth), Isabelle (late Bob), Mavis (Norman) and Carolyn (late Renald), and his siblings-in-law Mary (Bob), Jacques (Nicole), Lise (Mike), Carole (Tim) and Michel (Tracey).
Predeceased by his parents Alex and Cora (nee Purdy) Deforge, his siblings Vern (Rita), Arthur (late Pauline) and Mabel (late Joe), as well as his siblings-in-law Norbert (Diane), Madelaine, Gaetan (Jocelyn), Leo and Ginette.
Basil loved and respected nature, always had a strong work ethic and was a “Jack-of-all-Trades”!
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre.
