Alberto “Bert” Merenda
In loving memory of Alberto (Bert) Merenda (1964-2024)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Bert’s sudden passing at home on August 16, 2024.
Bert worked over 30 years in the mines starting as the gardener and moving up the ladder over the years.
This past year he worked at the Golden Manor where he brought many joys to the staff and residents.
Bert was very caring, loving, big hearted, loved to talk and adored by many.
Bert loved his Toronto Maple Leaf regardless of their losing streak.
Bert built a beautiful oasis in the backyard of their home with his beloved wife Chantal. He loved the outdoors, gardening, doing projects and sharing his many hot peppers and tomatoes plants with his friends but no one could grow them like him.
Bert is survived by his wife Chantal, his son Frank Merenda, his daughters Katica Merenda, Isabella (Bella) Merenda, his grandson Thomas McQuaid, his mother Anita Merenda, sisters Silvana Campbell, Victoria (Kevin) Kirkland, Teresa Wilson, his brother Antonio Merenda, his mother-in-law Mariette Maille, brother-in-law Guy Maille, his longtime friend Rob Morgan. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Bert is predeceased by his father Francesco (Frank) Merenda, and father-in-law Gilbert Maille.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024 from the chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home. Remembrance donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
