Denys, Yvonne Mary (Schelstraete) (April 13, 1930 – April 22, 2024) –
With great sadness, we the Denys family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, with her loving children by her side, Yvonne Mary Denys, on April 22nd, 2024, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, in her 95th year. She was a lifelong Langton and Tillsonburg resident and lived at Aspira Harvest Crossing for the past 6 years. Daughter of the late Jules Schelstraete and the late former Margriet Beel. Born in Tillsonburg, she married the love of her life, Wilfred, in Tillsonburg and they enjoyed 70 years of wonderful adventure with one another. Together with her husband, they farmed tobacco south of Tillsonburg for many years.
Yvonne loved the farm, and her value of hard work and determination was reflected in her children and grandchildren. Much loved wife of the late Wilfred (2021). Caring and loving mother and mother-in-law of Karen (Brian) Gracie, of Tillsonburg and Gail (Dave) Sandham, of Sauble Falls, ON. Cherished grandma of Tanya (André) Brisebois, of Ottawa and Sara (Brad) Clark, of Denver, CO. Much loved great grandma to her special great-grandson Tobi. He was her pride and joy and held a special place in her heart.
Yvonne always had a welcoming heart and especially enjoyed celebrating the special moments and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Yvonne was a dedicated parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church and a 65-year member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League, Tillsonburg. Survived by her dear sister Mary DeVos (late Clarence, 2021), sister-in-law Violet Dedobbelear (late Gaby, 2022), as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins in Belgium. Predeceased by her dearly loved grandson Scotty Sandham (2006), brother and sister-in-law Paul Quenneville (2022) (late Jennie, 2012).
“We the Denys family wish to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. W. Cheng, the caring and compassionate staff of Aspira Harvest Crossing and Staff of TDMH 2 North, for their excellent care and devotion.”
