Helsen, Ronnie (December 19th, 1949 – June 13th, 2024)
Ronnie Helsen, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a brief battle with illness on Thursday, June 13th, 2024.
Born in Tillsonburg to George (2004) and Mariette (Verlee) Helsen (2012). Ronnie was a one-of-a-kind soul committed to his family and all who knew him. A lifelong farmer in South Middleton truly dedicated and passionate about farming, tractors, and working in his shop. A lifelong early riser meant morning coffee runs to town with lovable loyal furry companions. Being that early morning riser meant grandpa was always there for his grandkids and early morning rides to practices or school. Dad never strayed too far from the farm but always enjoyed our family trips to Florida, day trips to amusement parks, and frequent special getaways to Niagara Falls with Patty. Dad enjoyed many years of Norfolk Old Timers hockey, “one of the originals,” and watching NASCAR with Patty.
Dad’s pride and joy were his grandkids, always making time for them and all their activities. He never missed a first day of school, a birthday, or a special occasion.
Survived by cherished spouse of 41 years, Patty (Hagan). Loving father to Sandra (Marc) LeBouthillier and the late Ryan Helsen (2021) and grandfather to Alexander, Abbygayle, and Addison LeBouthillier. Also survived by extended family Marcel Vanhooren, Fred (Helen) Notte, Annie (Roger) D’Huslter, George (Judy) Biddle, Teresa (Doug) Ferris, and Aunt and Uncle Angela Helsen (Luc VanHaelst) Belgium. Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Predeceased by his wife Francine (Notte) Helsen (1981) and beloved sister Darlene (Helsen) Vanhooren (2022).
On behalf of the Helsen family, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses, Staff, and Volunteers at V.O.N. Sakura House Hospice, for the care, dignity, and compassion provided to Ronnie and our family during this difficult time.
Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton.
