Robert Brian Pettigrew
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert (Brian) Pettigrew, age 73, after a brief illness at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on December 5th. Cherished son of the late Bob (2000) and Marion Pettigrew. Beloved brother of Randall (Deb) Pettigrew, Cam (Penny) Pettigrew and Loralee (Simon) Heemskerk. Brian was predeceased by his sisters Mary Lou Crichton (2019) and Dixie Lee Pettigrew (1959).
Brian will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews: Tara Lewis, Jordan Crichton and Blair Brackenbury; Kim Crichton-Struthers (Mike), Amelia and Zachary Struthers; Stacy Vanbesien (Kristen), Madison and Abby Vanbesien; Bobby Pettigrew (Kelsie); Chris Pettigrew; Colton Pettigrew; Sadie Pettigrew (Tyson); Maggie Heemskerk (Curtis); Emma Heemskerk. Special Godfather to niece Rebecca Heemskerk (Jeremy), and treasured best buddy and coffee partner to Ron Matthynssens.
Brian was a valued employee for many years at Mastico/Reiter Automotive until his early retirement at age 62. Brian was a quiet individual, a great listener and he had some awesome one-liners! He was also meticulous; from his penmanship…to his clothes…to his home. Everything had a place. Brian enjoyed driving the countryside and he liked thrift shopping for hidden treasures. He spent endless hours tinkering around the house doing home projects and yard work. He was easy to laugh and quick to lend a helping hand.
Brian’s greatest gift was his deep and profound devotion to his family, especially our mother. He spent countless hours tending to her property and the fishpond. Every year he would set-up all the Christmas decorations (inside and out), knowing that this would bring joy to our mother. He has also been known to do hair treatments on his nieces or pull an all-nighter at the hospital waiting for a child’s broken arm to be set. We could always count on him.

In honour of Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date at the Otterville cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Otterville Firefighters and can be done directly with the organization or via cheque payable to the organization by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519) 842-5221.
