FICK, Robert (Bob) Edward (January 13, 1939 – July 16, 2024)
After a courageous struggle with illness, on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, at AgeCare, Aylmer, with relatives and friends by his side, Robert (Bob) Edward Fick, formerly of Fairground, at the age of 85. Born in Cultus on the family farm, son of the late George Spencer Fick and the late former Mae (Burger) Fick.
Bob was a dedicated construction worker with William Fick Construction for 40 years. Bob was the happiest when he was spending time outdoors, moose hunting at the Carrol Country Hunt Camp, fishing with his grandson Joe. Bob is survived by his spouse of 30 years, Nancy Harvey, of Fairground. Always a caring father to Virginia Brooks (Richard), of Aylmer, stepdaughter Debra Buick (John), of London and to his predeceased and much-loved daughter Elane Sambray (Gerry) (2024). Proud and loving grandfather to Joe (Michelle) Buick; Rachel Sambray; Crystal Buick (Bart Wills). Also survived by his brother Bill (Belle) Fick, of Fairground, sister Trudy (Gary Haun), of Tillsonburg, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Wray Fick (survived by wife Carolyn, of Tillsonburg); Jack Fick (survived by wife Janet, of Tillsonburg).
In keeping with Bob’s expressed wishes, a traditional funeral service to honour his life will take place on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen St., Langton, by Pastor Ted Smith, of Cultus United Church. Friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend public visitation on Monday, July 22nd, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. in the Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Langton. Interment will take place on Tuesday, in Cultus Cemetery. Everyone is invited to express personal condolences, share memories and photos or contribute memorial donations to or “Cultus United Church” (by cheque) or to the “Alzheimer Society” via Bob’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J.
