Pickersgill, Allan Michael “Mike” Wray (August 15, 1947 – September 25, 2023) –
It is with great sadness, that we the family of Mike Pickersgill wish to announce his peaceful passing, on Monday, September 25th, 2023, after a years-long, courageous battle with cancer, at the V.O.N. Sakura House Hospice, Woodstock, at the age of 76. Mike will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. In his working years, Mike was an electrician with T.R.W., Tillsonburg (retiring in 2006). He was also a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church. For just shy of 50 years, Mike was a loving and much-loved husband to Dianne J. (VanHaecke) Pickersgill, of Tillsonburg. Mike was proud to be Canadian and will be remembered for his knowledge surrounding politics, World War 2, and Canadian History. He will also be lovingly remembered by his friends and family as a huge Johnny Cash fan, as a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks NHL team, and as a jack of all trades. In his later years, Mike could be seen on his red scooter, travelling the trails of Tillsonburg with his buddy Brian. Survived by his caring children, their spouses and, his beloved grandchildren: Allan (Ashley) Pickersgill, of Tillsonburg (their children Madden and Nyla); Kevin (Christa) Pickersgill, of Baden (their sons Ethan and Alex); Jeffrey (Laura) Pickersgill, of Tillsonburg (their daughters Amy and Kelsey). Always a caring brother to Harold Pickersgill (late wife Pat), of Windsor, Dennis Pickersgill, of Alberta, Janet Long (late husband Bev), of Aylmer, and dog Tucker. Also survived by his sister-in-law Bernadette Pickersgill, of Windsor, as well as by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Harold A. Pickersgill and Grace (Hoare) Pickersgill and by his brother Kenneth Pickersgill (1999).
In keeping with Mike’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place following a private family farewell. All friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend a public visitation on Monday, October 2nd, 2023, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A public Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s R.C.
