Mary Isabel Dennis
Mary, a dearly loved, special aunt, great aunt, and great, great aunt, passed away on Friday, April 12,
2024.
Mary was born the youngest of three children to Baxter and Nellie Dennis on October 26, 1936.
She grew up on the Ninth Line family dairy farm in Dereham Township. She attended Delmer
elementary, Brownsville Continuation School, Annandale High School, Western University and
Ontario College of Education. Her teaching career in Latin and English spanned 32 years at
Kitchener Collegiate Institute. She attended Forest Hill United Church where she shared her
love of music as their pianist and organist for 22years.
Mary was predeceased by siblings Florence (Keith) Buchner and Mac (Jean) Dennis. Aunt Mary
will be missed by nephews Bill Dennis, Chris (Sandy) Buchner, Paul (Ruth) Buchner, Owen
(Cathy) Buchner, Glenn (Cheryl) Buchner, predeceased by nieces Donna Young (Dennis),
Margret Peters (Dennis) and Kathy Johnson (Buchner) She had a special place in her heart for
17 great nieces and nephews plus 35 great greats.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to Maple Manor Nursing Home staff for the warm
care and loving companionship they provided during her time with them.
There will be celebration of life on Saturday, April, 27, at 2:00pm in Avondale United Church
Cuthbertson Hall with lunch to follow. A private family internment will precede the celebration
at 1:00pm in the Delmer Cemetery.
Memorial donation can be made to Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario, Avondale United
Church or support for the Palliative Care Unit Maple Manor Nursing Home, either directly with each organization or (payable by cheque) by mailing to Ostrander’s Funeral Home who have been entrusted with arrangements.
