LEPAGE, Mary Elizabeth (May 28, 1938 – June 27, 2024)
Mary Elizabeth (Spaulding) Lepage passed away at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the age of 86 years. Resident of Tillsonburg and formerly of Brownsville. Mary was born in the Township of Newport, Quebec to the late Gordon Spaulding (1992) and the late Lydia Smith Spaulding (1962). Beloved wife of the late George Lepage (1996) for 38 years. She will be missed by her family: Patty (Ron) Meertens and their children Jocelyn (Derek & newly arrived baby Benjamin, born June 17th) and Bryce (Brittney & grand fur baby Howie); Kim Spaulding Arnold and her children Kristin (children Gregory & Alexa), Joshua and Shannon. She was predeceased by her brothers Arlington (1996) and Raymond (2005). Survived by many relatives and friends in Quebec and Ontario.
Mary worked for the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers’ Marketing Board for 31 years and in 1984 she became the first woman to hold the position of Secretary to the Board until her retirement in 1994. Mary was a member of Brownsville and Avondale Churches, Women’s Institute and United Church Women’s Group. She enjoyed travelling on trips, going to casinos with friends and socializing at her trailer in Port Rowan. In retirement she took up quilting and completed over 100+ beautiful quilts. She wanted me to add that she “always loved to help people” and that was told to me 2 days prior to passing.
Public visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Verhoeve Funeral Home with funeral service immediately following to be conducted by Doris VanDenEeckhout. Interment will follow at Mount Elgin Cemetery.
