Peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on November 20, 2023, Marion passed away in her 100th year. She was born and raised in Detroit, until her family moved to Canada when she was in her teens. She met and married Marcel and stayed in Canada when her family moved back to the United States. She found her home in Houghton where the family grew tobacco and raised turkeys. Once the farming was done, she moved and resided in Tillsonburg.
Predeceased by her much-loved husband Marcel (1977). Loving mother of Sharon Masschaele, Tillsonburg, loving mother and mother-in-law of Ron (Gloria) Masschaele, Tillsonburg, and their children Lisa Patenaude (Bill), Tillsonburg and Mike Masschaele, St. Williams. Proud and loving great-grandmother of her predeceased grandson, Kyle Patenaude (2019), Kaitlyn Patenaude (Devin), Kristen Masschaele (David) and her great-great granddaughter Laikynn Patenaude. Marion was predeceased by her parents Morise and Martha Rigole, and her siblings Delores, Germaine, Lorne, Loraine, Bob and Junior.
Marion was a hard worker, very strong lady and she always saw the best in people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and having them over for family gatherings.
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The Liturgical Service for Marion will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 am with Father Seejo John presiding. Private Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Langton. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the Masschaele family.
