Green, Margaret (September 17, 1932 – January 24, 2024)
It is with heavy hearts, that we the Green family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Margaret (nee Marshall) Green, at her late Tillsonburg residence, on January 24th, 2024, at the age of 91. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Harry James Green (June 14, 2019). Proud and caring mother and mother-in-law of Gary (Sharon) Green, Randall (Lois) Green and Marilyn (Frank) Provenzano. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer (Brooks) Schaar, Melissa (Joe) Thorburn, Craig (Hannah) Green, Trevor Green, Sarah (Kyle) Godelie and Kayla (Mike) Panno. Special great-grandmother to London & Xander Schaar, Mia & Livy Thorburn, Jackson & Lucas Green, Chloe Green, Sophia & Eloise Godelie, Parker & Austin Panno and two more on the way in April. Also survived by her sister Elaine Van Evera, sister-in-law Muriel (Keith) Warner, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Margaret met the love of her life and had a beautiful marriage of 66 years and has missed him immensely. She worked at Heaths Department store and later Eichenberg Motors in Tillsonburg, while raising three children and helping Harry on their farm. After she retired, she went on to volunteer with troubled youth and as a volunteer driver for those in need. Margaret and Harry enjoyed travelling, watching their Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. But spending time with their adult children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was their greatest joy. Margaret shared many laughs and conversations with her “coffee club” friends and her sister Elaine, who was always at her side. Margaret was a loving, fun, strong-willed, clever, generous lady and mother. She fought for what she believed in and especially for those she loved. She was extremely eloquent with the written and spoken word and used this skill daily right up until her death. “So Thanks mom, “Gramma Miggs” and love you. Gary, Randy, Marilyn and families.”
Special thanks to Dr. Andrews, Suzanne, Michelle, and Christine who assisted in caring for mom over the years.
In keeping with Margaret’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family arrangements, with later inurnment in Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium.
