“Jesus answered ‘I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father expect through Me.’” John 14:6
On Saturday, December 2, 2023 in her 71st year, Lois Kathleen Chipps (nee: Fletcher) went to her eternal Home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ after a sudden and aggressive decline at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. We’d like to thank Dr. Abdalla, and Dr. Bruinsma the Emergency Nurses and the Nurses and PSWs of 2 South for their dedicated and compassionate care.
In the local community, Lois was best known as “Mrs. Chipps”, (C-H-I-double-P-S, like a potato chip but with 2 ‘p’s)” having taught hundreds, if not thousands of children in both local elementary schools and at Courtland Fellowship Baptist Church as a life-long teacher. While she cherished her role as an educator, Lois valued most her roles within her family: A dedicated farmer’s wife to her husband Gary for 47 years. A devoted mother to Meredith Riches and her husband J.P, and Craig Chipps and his wife Tara. A proud grandmother to Emerson and Madison Riches, and Aubrey and Macy Chipps. A beloved daughter to her late parents Russell and Gladys Fletcher. An adored step-daughter and friend of Joy Fletcher. A loving sister to Fran Graham and her husband Don, Lisa Lyon and her husband Brandt and late sister Laura Humphrey and her late husband Doug. A cherished daughter-in-law to the late Lloyd and Fleda Chipps. A committed sister-in-law to Shirley Gyori and her late husband Ernie, Nancy Chipps-Drummond and her husband, Wayne, and Keith Chipps and his late wife Connie. A doting aunt to Dawn Duncan, Tim Davis, Elizabeth Graham, David Graham and his wife Katlyn, Fletcher, Parker and Jake Lyon, Deanna Drummond, and Matthew Drummond. An esteemed step-sister to Barbara-Lynn Stephens, Lori Bare, Mary-Ellen Kyte, Patrick Kyte, and Deanna Brown. Lois was a prayerful and steadfast member of her family, not unlike her biblical hero, Esther.
Our family invites you to visitation at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. Pastor Stephen Twinem, a former student of Lois and life-long family friend will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Courtland Baptist Cemetery and a reception to follow at the Courtland Community Centre.

“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14.
