Craig, Leslie (Les) Robert
June 21, 1945 – October 13, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the passing of Leslie (Les) Robert Craig, a resident of Windham Centre; at the Steadman Community Hospice, Brantford in his 80th year after a courageous battle with leukemia.
The most important thing in Les’ life was his family. He was the cherished and loving husband for 57 years of Johanna (Anne) (Beumer) Craig. Proud father of Vicki (Paul Martin), Mike (Karrie) Craig and Steve (Anne) Craig. He thought the world of his grandchildren: Sarah (Scott), Carlee (Derek), Hayley, Nicholas, Jakob (Sydney), Claire (Jack) and Myra. Les was a dedicated brother to: Connie (Larry Squires), Carolyn (Wayne Gamble), and Rosemary (Steve Nadalin). He was loved by his brother-in-law John (Lois) Beumer. Les will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by his parents Robert (Bob) and Edythe (Goodhand) Craig, sister-in-law Hennie, and brother-in-law Bill.
Les grew up in the Port Rowan area before moving to Simcoe to raise his family. Les was a hardworking and dedicated Linesman for Ontario Hydro in Simcoe for well over 40 years. Les took great pride in his work and was well liked and respected by his colleagues. He enjoyed sharing stories about his many experiences while working on different Hydro Lines throughout Ontario. Les was a huge sports fan! Many evenings with him were spent cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs or the Toronto Blue Jays! He was a dedicated volunteer with Simcoe Minor Hockey and Simcoe Minor Ball for many years, helping coach and manage his children’s sports teams.
The family would like to express gratitude to the medical staff at Juravinski Cancer Centre for the caring attention they provided. Thank you to the compassionate staff and volunteers at Stedman Community Hospice for your support and guidance.
