The family wishes to announce the unexpected passing of their beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather Julian Remi VanDaele of Tillsonburg on Sunday December 31, 2023 at the age of 99 years.
Predeceased by his wife Orla (1991) and his second wife Margaret (2009).
Loving father to Linda and her husband John Rupert, Terri and her husband Doug Battin, Guy and his wife Linda VanDaele. Proud grandfather to Duke Rupert and his fiancé Leanne (Talsma), Jason Rupert and his wife Christine, Amber Leavey, Andrea Mathieu and her husband Patrick, Tracy Battin and her partner Oscar, Derek Battin and his wife Jen, Lyndsey VanDaele, Brianne VanDaele and her husband Chris Agro.
Great grandfather to Brennan and Anna Rupert, Tyson Talsma, Evan and Taryn Rupert, E. (Evangeline), Luc, Julian and Georgia Mathieu. Braydon and Chloe Battin, Avery Todt and Roarke Agro. Brother to Georgette Hooyer, Gus (Stuffy) VanDaele.
Uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Achiel and Bertha VanDaele, sister Suzie Dalby, brother Roger VanDaele and many family and extended family.
He loved being a member of the Melody Makers for over 30 years. He was an accomplished accordion player who entertained many people. Music was a huge part of Julian’s life.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday January 5, 2024 from 11:00am until 1:00pm and the Funeral Service will commence at 1:00pm at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221. Interment will take place at Tillsonburg Cemetery following the service. Memorial donations will be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Doctors Without Borders and may be done directly with the Charity or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
