It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry. Surrounded by his loving family, Gerry passed away at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in his 94th year.
Predeceased by his wife Marion (nee Anderson) of 55 years (2006), his father Irvin, his mother Edna, his sisters Margorie Facey (Roy) and Lorna Cavers (Jim).
Gerry will be truly missed by his partner Joyce Damm of 13 years, brother Howard (Iris), sister Marlene Giangualano (Ralph) and brother Lawrence (Donna).
Loving father to his children, son Jim (Lynn), daughter Marni Groen. Cherished grandfather to Shane (Nicole) Wilhelm, Anthony Groen and Nicole Groen. Great grandfather to 5 great grandchildren.
Gerry was employed by Gardner Denver for 30 years. He was an active golfer and curler for many years. Gerry was past president and senator of the Jaycees. After retiring, Gerry and his wife Marion did a lot of travelling and then moved to Long Point and wintered in Florida.
Friends and relatives will be received by Gerry’s family at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 am. The Memorial Service for Gerry will follow in Ostrander’s Chapel at 11:00 am with Rev. Maurice Francis officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at the Bayview Cemetery, Port Rowan at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, Helping Hand Food Bank, Tillsonburg or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
