With great sadness we announce the passing of Liz (Elizabeth Ann) Lessif (Weaver), at the age of 75 at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario, following a courageous battle with Cancer. Loving wife, partner and best friend to husband John. Loving and proud stepmother to sons Jason (Pam Vieira) and Jeff (Karla Spicer). Loving and proud grandmother to Mikaela, Carson, Maryn, Quinn and Clarke. Thank you for lighting up your grandma’s life.
Honour guards: Dianne Demaiter, Carol Dodsley, Margaret D’Aloisio, Christine Kaniuk, Esther Meyer and Marilyn Verhoeve.
Only daughter of deceased Adalene Marie Weaver & Glenford Weaver. Stepsister to Edna Weaver, Olive Demo-Vincent (Weaver), Christine Demo, cousin to Diane Karen Eyre (Lewis) and Darlene Lewis of Florida. Longtime friend to Anne Anderson-Wilcox and Liz Tofflemire.
Liz and John chose Tillsonburg as the place to live, raise her new sons and become John’s business partner. Liz enjoyed her many years of singing with the Seniors Choir and St. Paul’s Christmas Concerto Choir. The games of bridge with her girlfriends were something she looked forward to- there was lots of laughter and she always had a good time. Liz loved to take in her grandson’s hockey and baseball games and cheering for the Leaf’s and Blue Jays. Liz served as Chair of Oxford Community Foundation, President of Tillsonburg Curling Club – Women’s Curling, was an active Lifetime Member of TDMH Auxiliary, Lifetime Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League, and a past member of the Kinette Club. Liz served on the Board of Children Family Services of Oxford, and for many years was a dedicated blood donor. Liz enjoyed her time with the Ontario Trillium Grant Advisory Board. Liz supported many organizations in Tillsonburg and throughout Oxford County in many different capacities.
Liz enjoyed her golfing days, loved the many places throughout the world her and John shared together over many years. Time spent in Florida was another favorite. Lots of golf, friendship and of course lots of great restaurants. So many memories!
Liz was a very special and giving person. She was so happy to be close to her mother in Simcoe upon learning her new family was headed to Tillsonburg to operate their new McDonald’s business. Liz worked the McDonald’s business and together met many new friends, not only in Tillsonburg but throughout Canada.
“The family would like to thank all who kept Liz in their thoughts and prayers. The Lord answered the many prayers by sending Liz these wonderful people who provided such good care. Special thanks to Dr. Crosby and Medical Staff at TDMH, to Dr. Michael Ott and his staff of the Surgical Unit. The Doctors, Nurses and PSW staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Victoria Hospital in London, we thank you for everything you did for Liz during her latest medical challenge. Our deepest gratitude to everyone who assisted in helping Liz leave us in peace, comfort, dignity, and pain free. To the compassionate nursing staff, we thank you for your caring, supportive and dedicated service to those in need. You are wonderful! Our thanks to our family friend Paul DeSaliaz for connecting us with Dr. Michael Ott.”
