Dr. Harvey A. Elliott
March 27, 1932 – August 21, 2024
Harvey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side. Harvey was predeceased by his wife Suzanne (Doucet, nee Gagnon) and his first wife Joyce (nee Emes) Elliott. Loving father to Allan and Stephen (Lori). Step-father to Suzanne’s children, Jean (Lisa), Sylvie (Paul), Carole (Chris) and Johanne (Maurice). Together Suzanne and Harvey have fifteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Harvey was the son of Delbert and Florence Elliott of Nobel, Ontario. Harv attended the Nobel Public School and Parry Sound High School and graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry receiving a gold medal. Dr. Elliott practiced in Belleville, was very involved in Eastminster United Church and obtained his pilot’s licence a year after graduation, and enjoyed Rotary, hunting and fishing. Moving back to Parry Sound he was past President of Rotary, past President of the Bridge club, and started the Mixed Probus Club. He co-chaired the Economic Development Board, served on the Committee of Adjustment, chaired the purchase, reconstruction, and financing of the West Parry Sound Seguin Senior Centre. He was on the board of Belvedere Heights Long Term Care facility and helped in the building of the new facility. Just before leaving for Tillsonburg he received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, the Parry Sound Economic Development Award, the Parry Sound Ambassadorial Award, and the Chamber of Commerce Presidents Proficiency Award for Business Proficiency.
He was on the Economic Development Board in Tillsonburg, the Land Division Committee of Oxford County, a member of St. Paul’s Untied Church and the AOTS men’s club. He was President of the Mixed Probus Club, and a member of Tillsonburg and Simcoe Bridge Clubs. He also enjoyed the challenges of the stock market.
A private burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Parry Sound, Ontario.
