DORIS JEAN HOOKER (JONES, nee LAUR)
September 20, 931 – April 19, 2024
With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Doris Jean Hooker (Jones, nee Laur) at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of the late James F Jones (May 6, 1976) and daughter of Murray and Josephine Laur. Doris was predeceased by her siblings, sister Irene “Mickey” Sykes and brother Clifton “Kip” Laur.
Born in Malahide Township, Doris spent the majority of her life in Tillsonburg where she raised her four sons, James Jones (predeceased 2016), Ray (Carol) Jones of Tillsonburg, Roy (Susan) Jones and Randy (Sandy) Jones, both of Ottawa. Doris will also be missed by her 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In recent years, she lived at the Tillsonburg Retirement Residence prior to moving to the Chartwell Long Term Care Home in Aylmer. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at both homes for the kindness they provided in her final years.
A private graveside family service will be held the Tillsonburg Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Tillsonburg Hospital or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
