DOREEN K. BURNS
1946 – 2024
After a difficult but brief illness, Doreen bravely passed away peacefully at home with her husband, sons, and daughters-in-law at her side. Married to Robert for 58 years she leaves behind three sons; Stephen along with daughter, Khrystin and granddaughter, Sophie; Daren along with his wife Catherine and their children Matthew, Emily, and Justin; and Marc along with his wife Shanna and their two children Alysha and Tyler. Also many cousins, nieces, and nephews on her and Robert’s side. Predeceased by her parents Clinton and Ruby (nee:Wetlaufer) Hofstetter, an older sister Joan (Sam) Culbertson
Doreen had a varied career as a short order cook, a store manager, and a personal support worker. She was an avid reader; especially, relaxing in her swing set by the bubbling pond watching the frogs and the fish, loved camping with her young family then later as a companion with the four ‘Chicks’ and she enjoyed social bridge playing; particularly, with close bridge friends and the ‘giggle’ group.
Family was her main love and Christmas her favourite time of the year as it was all about family; though, any family gathering was a joy. Over the years her many pets grew to become family and held a special place in her heart.
