Moore, Dianne Eillein (nee Mitchell) R.N. (November 4, 1936 – December 14, 2023)
Dianne passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St Thomas Elgin General Hospital with her family by her side. Dianne grew up in London and Strathroy and later moved to St Thomas to attend nurses training at St Thomas Elgin General Hospital where she graduated in 1958. At graduation Dianne received the OR award. Dianne worked at St Thomas Elgin General Hospital from 1958-1971 as a Registered Nurse. She was a dedicated nurse and well respected by the Doctors and her fellow nursing colleagues.
Harold and Dianne lived in Aylmer for 15 years and relocated to Tillsonburg in 1973 to embark on a new chapter in life pursuing a partnership opportunity in Eichenberg Motors (1971) Ltd. Always living out her Christian faith Dianne attended St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Dianne will be remembered as a caring, compassionate person and a strong supporter of her family. Dianne was an avid volunteer and was always finding ways to give back to her community. She taught Sunday school for many years, was involved with the Tillsonburg Swim team, was a co-founder of Campus life, and a long time contributor to Victoria’s Quilts Canada. In the late 70’s early 80’s Dianne provided loving support to Vietnamese refugees and spent many hours teaching English in the church basement and finding housing for the refugees. She hosted Rotary exchange students and also billeted Junior B hockey players. Dianne felt that laughter was the best medicine, and her positive outlook carried her throughout her life and relationships.
Dianne will be dearly missed by her loving and much-loved husband of 65 years, Harold Moore. Always a caring and supportive mother to: Cindy Bes (John), late Susan Bootle (Joe), Erica Campbell (Cam), David Moore, Andrea Moore-Sulkowski (Steve). Proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and special 2nd mommy and grandmother to the Ta family. Also survived by her brother Barry Mitchell (Dorothy), special cousin in law Betty Brown, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Eric and Violet Mitchell, sister Beverly Hatt and brother-in-law Carl and cousin Bruce Brown.
The family would like to thank Dr Roth, and the staff at STEGH, for your caring and compassion shown to Dianne and to our family during this difficult time. Special thanks to Cheryl and Dennis for always offering a comforting smile and hand to hold.
In keeping with Dianne’s expressed wishes cremation has taken place. A private service with be held at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Tillsonburg. Everyone who knew Dianne is invited to share favourite memories, photos, express personal condolences, or contribute memorial donations to “Operation Smile Canada” or to “Victoria’s Quilt Canada”, via Dianne’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J.
