With heavy hearts his family announces that Bevan McLean Houze passed away and peacefully entered into the arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday September 8, 2024. His passing as result of a complications from a fall.
Beloved husband and best friend to Gail Houze (nee Bruyea). Dearly loved father of Rodney (Jane-Ann), David (Crystal), Warren (Nancy) and Bradley (Lori). Cherished grandfather of Jade Houze (Nate), Cody Houze, Amanda Houze (fiancé Josh), Dr. Andrea Houze, Avery and Lauren Houze, great grandfather to Zander Houze.
Dear brother of Dr. Graham Houze and brother-in-law to Rick Bruyea. Predeceased by his brother Herbert. He will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Bevan was born in Brockville on June 17, 1938, the son of Dr. McLean Houze and Grace (nee Sayce).
Bevan met his wife Gail in 1958 while he was attending the University of Waterloo. They married in 1960 and had almost 64 precious years together. He worked at several jobs in his younger years but found his true calling in truck driving. He worked for Verspeeten Cartage for many years and in retirement for Sonnyside Flowers. He loved driving truck. He loved trains as well and was a model railroader from his early boyhood. A large railroad always occupied their basement. He loved his children and grandchildren and loved when they came to visit or when he could spend time with them. The family wishes to thank the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital-Dialysis Unit and the Multi Service Centre Volunteer Drivers for their care and compassion.
The family will receive guests for a visitation at North Broadway Baptist Church, 6 North Street East, Tillsonburg on Friday September 13, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 am. The Funeral Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00am. A lunch will be served at the Church prior to the interment at New Road Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation, North Broadway Baptist Church or the Salvation Army. Each can be done directly with each organization or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519) 842-5221 who have been entrusted by the Houze family for the arrangements.
