Terrence John Landry
March 8, 1983 – August 25, 2024
It is with great sadness and heartbreak we announce the unexpected passing of Terrence John Landry (T.J.) on Sunday August 25, 2024, at the age of 41.
A beloved Son, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin and Friend. T.J. was born on March 8,1983 in Thunder Bay, where he grew up surrounded by a loving family. He was a special man, as well as a strong believer of his Aboriginal Culture and a proud member of the FWFN. He shared a special bond with his parents and he meant the world to them. T.J. was their most precious gift and will forever be that missing link in the chain of their lives. He loved spending time with his family and friends. The family gatherings and holidays were slways his favourite.
T.J. was always eager to lend a helping hand to others, especially those in need. He always gifted the homeless. He would spend his last dollar to give someone a hot meal. His strength shone through in the ability to see the best in people. He was famous for just giving a stranger a cigarette and striking up a good conversation. This trait inspired us to see just how caring he was and how special his heart truly was too. He had such a generous soul.
He loved the outdoors and fishing, which was something he took extreme pride in, and sharing his catches and stories. T.J. enjoyed the Family Camp at Cedar Sites on Whitefish Lake, helping his dad with projects, hanging out at the beach, and having a few cold ones around the campfire while entertaining us with his sense of humour and contagious laugh. T.J. was not someone you would miss in a crowd. His height allowed him the best view of life and earned him the nickname “Stretch”. He was a true sports fan like his Uncle Clark. He especially loved hockey. He was a dedicated Montreal Canadien fan, coming by it naturally from his dad. T.J. was also an incredible Pool player. He would place the odd wager and was known for his wheeling and dealing. He would never miss a chance for a quick buck or just a free game of pool. His video games consumed some of his spare time especially with his special buddies Jamie and Travis. As a child, he already had a love for music. He would sit on the couch and rock himself to sleep. As an adult, he was always usually the first one on the dance floor showing off his moves.
T.J. took pride in every job he undertook. He was an extremely hard worker. In his earlier jobs, he was fortunate to meet his lifetime friend Ron. In his later years, T.J. was dedicated and respected by his roofing co-Workers at preferred roofing. In his 20 years of service, he formed a special bond with his Boss Terry who he looked up to as a big brother and spoke so highly of.
In his passing T.J . Would want nothing but the best for his Mom and Dad. They were his ultimate best friends and world. Despite his struggles, T.J. had the biggest heart, big dreams and prided himself in where he was heading in the future. He would want you to hold close to those dear to you.
T.J. will be sadly missed by his parents Terry and Virginia, his cuddle buddy, pet Brewskie, his Uncle Clark, Auntie Jennifer, his cousins and many many special friends and extended family.
Predeceased By his Grandparents John and Betty Gernat/Jim Landry and Precilla Cyrette; Auntie Lynn and Uncles Johnny Gernat and Jim Landry.
Services for T.J. will be held on Monday September 9, 2024 at 11:00am in St. Anne’s Church on Mission Road, FWFN. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Community Hall. Interment to take place at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
