Ted Syrek, 86, of Thunder Bay, died May 3, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospice after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on July 5, 1937, to Michael and Mary Syrek in Toronto, Ontario. He married Eleanor Kruzel on April 23, 1962. The birth of their son, Michael, completed their family of three.
Ted worked diligently as an insurance broker for the Thunder Bay region. In his leisure time, he could be found at the Thunder Bay Country Club, where he enjoyed a game of curling, swinging a golf club, and socializing with his dear friends. Ted’s ability to drive a golf cart will forever bring a smile and a laugh to those who knew the infamous story.
Ted is lovingly remembered by his son, Michael Syrek, grandchildren, Ashley Syrek (Matthew) and Danielle Syrek (Trevon), great-grandchildren, Taylor, Taurin, Hailey, Hunter, Blake, Dean, and siblings, Helen and Laura. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Eleanor Syrek, his brother, John Syrek, and his parents, Michael and Mary Syrek.
A private Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in the future.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Poon, Dr. Bezanson, Dr. Chan, Dr. Bassuony and the exceptional care of the nursing staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Northern Cancer Fund in memory of Ted.
