Jeffrey ALLAN DAVIS passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 in hospital. He was born in Coventry, England in 1946 and moved to Port Arthur in 1947 with his parents and brother. He was predeceased by his first wife Elaine in 1992, and later by his parents, Gladys and Bernard Davis.
Allan is survived by his common-law wife Sandra, and sons Jeffrey (Kristen and daughter Sarah, Leduc Alberta); Christopher (Jodie and daughter Audrey, Ottawa); brother Brian (Lee, Red Rock); and sister Carol Anuik (Bob, Thunder Bay); and nieces Lesley (Krmpotich), Ashley (Davis), and Kristen (Ferguson).
Al was a broadcaster for 27 years with CBC. He spent 7 years with CBC TV in Montreal before moving to CBC National Radio News booth in Toronto for two years. He finished his career with CBQ in Thunder Bay. Al started his broadcasting career with CFPA in Port Arthur after graduating from Brown Radio College in Minneapolis. He also worked locally at CJLX and CKPR, before moving on to be News Director at CKOT in Tillsonburg. Before radio, he worked a year for Great Lakes Paper as a “Tallyman” at Camps 503 and 602.
Al loved fishing and was a member of the “Thunder Bay Salmon Association” for many years. He particularly enjoyed his family camp at Amethyst Beach and camping at Lake Windegoostigwan.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date. In Al’s memory, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre- Cancer Centre.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
