In the wee hours of the morning of Monday January 15, 2024, Elizabeth Jane (nee Evans)
passed quietly and peacefully in Pioneer Ridge with her loving family right at her side.
Liz was born on August 11,1939 in Toronto, Ontario to Harold and Edna (nee Matheson)
Evans, their only child. She spent her childhood in the Ottawa Valley and in 1953, the family
moved to Port Arthur Ontario, settling at 99 Rupert Street . She attended Port Arthur Collegiate
where she made many dear lifelong friends. Liz then attended the University of Toronto and
Lakehead University, eventually embarking on a long career with Toronto Dominion Bank.
In 1962, she married Ernie Dupuis and together they welcomed three children, Lisa, Debra and
Rob.
Liz was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, creating beautiful garments for herself and her
whole family. She was also an avid curler, golfer, downhill skier and bridge player.
To say she was the epitome of style and grace would be an understatement; her classic and
extensive wardrobe and impeccably decorated home were her signatures.
In later years, Liz and Ernie vacationed frequently in Madeira Beach, Florida, along with family
and grandchildren.
Following Ernie’s passing, Liz and second husband Bill Lemay enjoyed travel together, including
a trip to Portugal and then purchasing a vacation home in Mesa, Arizona.
After selling the family home on Confederation Drive , she purchased a condo at Waverley Park
Towers to be closer to her friends. Liz delighted in dinners and lunches out, concerts, theatre,
shopping and bridge games with her girls and still travelled to Madeira Beach in the chilly
months.
The pride and love she felt for her family was immense and endless, especially her adored
grandchildren. Liz celebrated and supported her family in all their milestones, endeavours and
accomplishments in life.
Beautiful, intelligent, fiercely independent, and generous to a fault–that was Liz.
Liz will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa Honeysett (Bryan) ,
son Rob Dupuis (Anne Marie), grandchildren Erik Lovis (Kate), Hayley Lovis (Colten) and
Spencer and Dane Dupuis.
She was predeceased by her daughter Debra Lynn (1976), her parents Edna and Harold
(1981,1991), husband Ernie Dupuis (2009), and second husband Bill Lemay (2011).
Heartfelt and infinite thanks to the staff of Nurse Next Door, Wesway Respite Home and Pioneer
Ridge, Plaza 1, for their loving and compassionate care of Liz.
A gathering and luncheon in honour of this great lady will be held on Saturday January 27, 2024,
1:00 – 3:00pm, at the Valhalla Inn.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place in warmer, sunnier
weather. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or charity of
your choice.Arrangements have been entrusted to Everest of Thunder Bay, 299 Waverley
Street. Online condolences may be made www.everestofthunderbay.com
