Carol was born in 1947. She was raised in Hamilton, Ontario, a city that she was very fond of. She married in 1965, spending 10 years with Keith Brown. In her early thirties, Carol moved to Atikokan, Ontario where she met Bernie O’Beirn, a man who she truly appreciated for his love of the outdoors and his kind, free-spirited ways. During her days in Atikokan, Carol studied to become a health care aid which was a great source of pride for her; helping and meeting elders in her community. As a lover of music, she also enjoyed singing with her local church choir in Atikokan. Carol met her partner, Patrick Montgomery in 1995, which brought her to Thunder Bay where they spent thirteen loving years together. Carol and Patrick’s fondest memories were made while spending Summers at Clear Lake, Manitoba. Carol was a friendly, empathetic soul who would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She was a true naturalist and loved the company of animals. Her late cat Molly could attest to this. Carol is lovingly remembered by her five children, Colleen, Ron, Cindy, Shawna, and Shane. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Humane Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
