Tulloch, Spencer Stanton
July 24, 1951 – November 27, 2023
On November 27, 2023, our world became broken, as heaven received another angel – our Gramps, Father, Brother, Uncle, and head of the Chapman Side Rd crew, Spencer Stanton Tulloch.
Spencer was born in Arnprior, Ontario, and was the first son of Arlene & Woodrow Tulloch, a family which grew over time into a total of 11 kids. While he has called many places home including Toronto, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Bruce Mines, he spent his childhood in Wharncliffe with his grandma and grandpa, Arley and Bertha Spencer who were very special to him. As a young man he had a mischievous grin, and a sparkle in his eye. He was a fantastic hockey player, a gymnast and a Venture Leader for one of the first Co-Ed groups in Canada. He grew up to be a gifted landscape painter, an avid motorcyclist, outdoor enthusiast and a journeyman carpenter, having put in 30 hard years of work at Essar Steel. But his family and friends were his heartbeat.
Spencer is survived by his loving partner of 17 years, Amy (Clinton) Bolduc, his many dogs and cats, and of course the horses. Their small farm on Chapman Side Road would bring them headaches, laughter, and love that connected the two of them. Spencer Senior is also survived by his dear son, Spenser Junior, wife Bobbi-Jo and their sons, Quentin and Ayden. Spencer’s grandsons were the center of Spencer’s world. He was an amazing teacher who took his time and patience teaching them many lessons that will last a lifetime. Spencer was ever supportive of his step-kids Cliff, Jess and Sara (Dan) and was patient with their antics as well as having big love for their kids – Jazsper, DJ, Dominic, Ryder and Alexis, who also became his grandkids
His surviving extended family includes his 10 siblings, Darlene (Tom), Susan (Richard), Brian (Normand), Brent (Joseph), Blaine (Linda), Norman (Laurie), Noel (Sharon), Noella (Rick), Nikki, and Roddy (Laura). As well as all his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, their partners, and their families. All of whom knew him as our Uncle Spencer. The name carries with it his wisdom, craftsmanship, and mentorship that would be apparent the moment he would quietly contribute to a conversation or project.
Many of these cherished moments were enjoyed over a cup of coffee and a shovel at the Iron Bridge Tulloch property. The five-bedroom, log home on the Tulloch homestead property was the gathering place for the extended Tulloch family and friends for decades. He made friends feel like family – friends like Bob, Ed, Derek, Tim and Audrey, who will also miss him dearly.
Spencer Stanton Tulloch was our rock of strength and knowledge. He would help anyone who needed it. He loved all animals, he loved nature, he loved family, and he loved sharing his camp. He was a man of few words, a kind and gentle soul. The world will not be the same without our Gramps, father, brother, and Uncle Spencer, we will miss you every day – we love you to the moon and back.
The family extends gratitude to the first responders and for the care taken by the staff at Beggs Funeral Home. An intimate celebration of life will be held in Summer of 2024. The family asks that in honor of Spencer’s generosity, that you pay forward a kind act in his memory throughout December. Donations can also be made in Spencer’s name to an animal rescue organization of your choice, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and stories about Spence be added to the Memory Wall at www.beggsfh.com.
