Edith “Irene” Dibble Obituary
Irene passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Woodingford Lodge Tillsonburg on Friday, April 19, 2024 in her 88th year. She has been reunited with her beloved husband, Donald W. “Don” Dibble, who predeceased her in December 2009. Loving mother of Donna Patience and her husband Robert of Thamesford, Bill Dibble and his wife Barbara of Ingersoll, and Jeff Dibble and his wife Cathy of Drumbo. Proud grandmother of Angela Cox (Jeff), Cheryl Patience (Cam), Brian Patience (Lindsay), Katherine Henderson (Kevin), Gordon Dibble (Melanie), Virginia Janssen (Jamie), Cody Dibble (2021) and great- grandmother of Austin and Evelyn Cox, Harlow and Bo Murray, Brock Patience, Elliott, Emmett, Graham and Hazel Henderson and Corbin, Darwin and Loretta Dibble. Irene is fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Jim Richardson and by her several nieces and nephews, especially her niece Sandi Thomson, who was a devoted visitor.
Irene is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Isabel Garfat, her sister Verna Richardson, her brother Joe Garfat and his wife, Hazel.
Irene worked on the family farm with Don until their retirement, but she always had a talent for artistic work – she loved to try her hand at ceramics, leatherwork and especially piecing quilts. In her younger days she was a member of the Dickson’s Ladies Aid, and the Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre. In retirement, she rediscovered her faith and joined the congregation at Dundas Street United Church, making many friends there.
Friends will be received at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock, on Tuesday April 23 from 6-8pm. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 24 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Margaret Trapnell officiating. Interment at Innerkip Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Dundas Street United Church.
Irene’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Woodingford Lodge Tillsonburg for the wonderful care and support provided to Irene during her stay.
