Anne Pasternak
JULY 15, 1927 – OCTOBER 26, 2023
For you are my hope, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah;
I have trusted in you since my youth.
— Psalms 71:5
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great grandmother, Anne Pasternak, peacefully in her sleep on October 26, 2023. Anne was the beloved wife and constant companion of Zenny for 71 years. Their children are Linda (Glenn) Ireland, Janet (Hayden) Knibbs and John (Brenda Lynn) Pasternak. Their six grandchildren are Kristin (Adrian) Sava, Jessica (Jared) Kempf, Jeremy (Jade) Knibbs, Justin (Andrea) Knibbs, Stephanie (Aaron) Gallerno and Rebecca (Steve) Andrews. They are also blessed to have three great grandchildren, Ethan Gallerno and Peyton and Ella Kempf.
Anne’s life was rich with so many experiences and friendships. Anne dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on April 12, 1940 at the age of 12. That began a career of faithful service that was exemplary. She raised her children with love and to have fine Christian standards, was known for her hospitality, delicious cooking and lifelong love of gardening, particularly flowers. There were memorable holidays to cottages in the north, to the Caribbean and to Europe. There were annual conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses that we all enjoyed and had new outfits for, as she was an excellent seamstress. As time went along, Anne and Zenny built a family place on Little Whitefish Lake where more happy times than we could ever recount took place.
In 1979 Zenny was invited to share in the substitute and then full time circuit work, travelling to upbuild and encourage congregations throughout many parts of Ontario. Mom was an enthusiastic supporter and enjoyed the service, meals and staying with all the new friends they made along the way. A highlight for her was when Zenny would be invited to officiate at marriage ceremonies. She loved to dress up and enjoy some dancing with her partner and was usually sad when he said it was time to go.
Anne loved her God Jehovah, she loved her dear Zenny, she loved her family and she loved her friends. Really, she just loved people and we will miss her warm smiles and hugs. She lived in hope of everlasting life on an earth restored to the paradise God originally intended. We know Jehovah has written her name in his book of remembrance (Malachi 3:16) and she will soon be back with us, young and full of life.
