May 23, 1941 – March 20, 2024
Partner in life and devoted husband to Margie (predeceased) for 48 incredible years. Loving and generous father, sharing hard earned wisdom and endless support to Dixie (Steve), Maida (Iain) and Robb. The proudest and most devoted Granddad to Sara, Grace, Lily, Angus, Sloan (predeceased) and Ainsley. Big brother and friend to David (predeceased)(Laurie), Susan (Blair), William (Karen), Sandra (Ken), Nancy, Joan (John). Much loved by his extended family, neighbours and friends for his kindness and willingness to help others. Stephen was a lifelong farmer, passionate about his family, his faith, the environment and helping his community. A former Councillor in the Town of Georgina, Stephen also served on the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority and was a dedicated community volunteer, activist and supporter of the arts. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He worked hard, loved truly, and looked for the good in the world around him.
Stephen’s family are so grateful to the 2nd floor East staff at Southlake Village for their care and compassion during his final days. The family also thanks staff at Cedarvale, Southlake Hospital, and The Elden for their care and kindness to Stephen this past year. To Sherry, Collene, John and Fiona, we thank you for joining Team Steve and providing personal care at the farm.
Cremation will take place. Visitation from Forrest & Taylor Funeral home on Thursday, April 4th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Egypt Hall, 6756 Smith Blvd on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. Friends, neighbours and family are invited to stay after the service to share stories, talk about recent bird sightings and enjoy good food. Donations to Canada Foodgrains Bank (www.foodgrainsbank.ca) or the Georgina Food Pantry (www.georginafoodpantry.com) are appreciated by the family.
