It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Gaetan “Gator” Belanger on June 14, 2024, at the age of 75.
Gaetan is survived by his devoted wife Paulette; predeceased son Andre; loving daughter Tammy; and cherished grandchildren Kassandra and Tyler.
Son of the late Edouard and Dolorese. Dear brother to Huguette (late Ronald), Clem, Aline (Angus), Len (Colette), Yvette (Ken), Cleo (Marie), Danny, and Gaby (Richard). He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family, many friends and especially his dog Nika.
Throughout his life, Gaetan was involved with the Northern Ontario Quarter Horse Association, and the Azilda Lions Club. He dedicated a good part of his life to Belanger Farm & Feed which was founded by his father and then to his company Gaetan Belanger Trucking.
Gaetan had a love and passion for horses, running his backhoe, and working in his garden. He was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it and did not expect anything in return. He loved to gather with his friends and family to play guitar and sing even though he could never fully finish a song.
Gaetan was a very strong, generous, and proud man. He lived his life to the fullest and in his way.
Gaetan will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched which were many.
We are proud to announce that he was a successful candidate for the Trillium Gift of Life, where he has donated his eyes to further research.
A Celebration of Life to honor Gaetan’s life, will be held at the Forest Ridge Golf Course on Friday, August 16, 2024 starting at 4:00 p.m. A cold buffet will be served starting at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will come together to celebrate his memory.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the excellent care that he received from all the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences North.
