Surrounded by her loving family, Aline left us peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the age of 76 years. Born on April 22, 1948, Aline grew up the eldest daughter of Lionel and Marie Jeanne Dignard (both predeceased) in the family home on Highway 17E on the aptly named Dignard Road. Cherished sister to Roger (predeceased) and Gerry (Rachelle) and her forever flower girl Diane (Rodney). She met her truest love, Gary (predeceased) while selling blueberries and with whom she shared three of her most precious gems, her children: Lisa (Karl), Norman (Linda) and Aila (David). Cherished Mémère of Renée, André (Emily), Dalton (Marcus), Jarod (Hazel), Stephanie (Jesse), Brody, Ashley (Brent), Karley (Jeff), Grace, Tessa and Austin. Special Mee-mère of Sawyer, Reese and Wes. She will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family and friends. Aline had many happy moments with best friends Yvonne and Dianne, her dear neighbor and dart partner Bertha, the Coniston Golden Age and Seniors Club, her Union Gas crew, and Rockport family. She was loved by everyone who knew her, with her sweet demeanor, positive attitude, and unwavering strength that left quite an impression on everyone she met.
Her kitchen was always filled with the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked goods, namely “Mémère’s Donuts”, her infamous shortbread cookies and meat pies, which was a true testament to her devotion for her mother’s recipes, tradition and her generous spirit. Forever Tom Brady’s biggest fan, she had such a love for football and cheered passionately for her favourite player. She also had a knack for adventure, playing many crib and card games and sneaking away for her “secret missions” to the casino. Aline truly lived her best life no matter where she resided – Wahnapitae, Sudbury, Coniston, Ottawa, and Calgary. She found her forever home in Coniston living nearly 30 years she lovingly called “Smurf Village” and had many great friends in her senior years.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Asai, as Aline held a special bond with him. He provided exceptional care and kindness to her throughout her courageous battle with cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Singh, Dr. Symington, the staff at Health Sciences North and Maison McCullogh Hospice for Aline’s treatment and support up to and including her final days. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury, on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Chapel service will follow at 2:00 p.m. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
In lieu of donations and in the spirit of Christmas, the family wishes you a happy holiday season surrounded by loved ones, and in her honour maybe place an extra gift for the kids under the tree.
