Don was born November 6, 1941, and grew up in Gatchell, Ontario where he and his sister, Sandra, enjoyed many fun times together. He spent much time at his grandparents’ in Port Elgin with cousins and family, and at the family camp.
A lifelong electrician for INCO, now Vale, he was a hard working family man and faithful husband. He is survived by his daughter, Heather McGillivray, and his sons Glen McGillivray and Vantha Chic; and by his loving second wife, Darlene McGillivray (nee Dubreuil) and her daughter, Tammy. Don was lavishly loved by many pets over the years, and will be especially missed by Daisy and Minnie. He also touched the lives of the many healthcare workers who treated him with great kindness and respect.
He was always busy doing something. You could often find him in his garage restoring a classic car, truck, or motorcycle. He loved ham radios and CBs, good music, a good joke, a good meal, camping, hunting, being on the water, and spending time with friends when he could.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
At his request there will be no visitation or service.
